After a long career as an international soccer  player, Serwetnyk moved to New England to pursue her dream to become an artist.  Having played for Canada, the perennial champion University of North Carolina and abroad on French and Japanese teams, she traveled extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia mixing her soccer passion with local cultural and artistic interests

Serwetnyk graduated from UNC with a bachelors degree in Fine Arts in 1989.   However, most of her accomplished work was created in the late 90's and new millenium when she chose to study at the School  of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Provincetown International Art Institute (PIAI) on Cape Cod.

Known for her eclectic work, bright colours and passionate brushwork, Serwetnyk mixes the serenity of the Provincetown light with the inner world of frenetic playing energy and robust forthrightness.

Her paintings have appeared in juried and member shows at the Provincetown Art Association, the Schoolhouse Gallery, the Fine Arts Work Center and the Whaler's Wharf.  She has had her own shows at PIAI, Goose Brook Farm and the Bravo Window.

She also holds the distinction of being Canada's first woman inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame.

"My process is an investigation of memory and catching the moment.  Having been an athlete, I longed to capture timed perfection in action.  After years of playing, I realized that all the striving for these magical executions became lost once the action, the game, the training was over.  As an aging athlete, my thoughts on the game, the world and the people around me also altered.  The moments I once strived for or loved became only a faint interpretation in my mind.  They do not exist anymore.  In painting, in creating art with tangible, permanent mediums and surfaces, images, memories and illusions of a time, or feeling, or fantasy or subject can be captured to last and radiate forever."
